Whether you have a wealth of family stories and names to build on, or you’re still trying to identify where in Palestine your family originates, this workshop is for you.
We’ll begin with a short presentation, then participants will spend most of the time working on their own research with guidance from our facilitators.
Hands-on stations will include:
- Online Palestinian archives
- Ottoman and other records on FamilySearch
- U.S. and international records using library editions of Ancestry, Newspapers.com, NewspaperArchive, British Newspaper Archive, and more.
- Immigration A-files through the National Archives or USCIS requests
- Preservation and digitization support (book, flatbed, and batch photo scanners; slide and negative scanners; audio and video converters)
- Palestinian geography resources and city/village books
- Arabic translation support
- And more
Participants can spend the entire time at one station or rotate among several stations to explore different tools and approaches for learning more about their Palestinian ancestors.
Seats are limited and registration is required. To join us in Sacramento, please complete the registration form and questionnaire here. Please note: for out-of-town participants, travel and hotel arrangements are the responsibility of each individual participant. This workshop is co-sponsored by FamilySearch.
